The EU lifted sanctions against the mother of Yevgeny Prigozhin

The European Court of Justice annulled the sanctions against the mother of the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, Violetta Prigozhina, imposed solely on the basis of the principle of kinship . This was reported by Reuters with reference to the decision of the EU court.

Violetta Prigozhina, together with her son, owned the catering company Concord (Concord Management and Consulting) through maternal structures. She was included in the EU sanctions list on March 3, 2022.

The court decision states that Mrs. Prigozhina has not owned the Concord company since 2017, despite the fact that she has its shares at her disposal. Also, the EU Council was unable to prove that at the time of inclusion in the EU sanctions list, she owned other assets related to Yevgeny Prigozhin. The court ordered the EU Council to pay the costs of this case.
